The string quartet Evolution of 4 was established in November 2011 and strives to perform music of the highest quality, of both local and international composers.
They appeared on BBC World News with their debut performance at the Cradle of Humankind on the Peace Quartet instruments in March 2012, raising funds for under-privileged music students in South Africa.
They have performed in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town in numerous venues and performed with artists such as pianists Malcolm Nay and Pieter Jacobs, guitarist Abri Jordaan, soprano Melissa Gerber and baritone Christopher Vale.
In 2014, Evolution of 4 collaborated with Sue Cock, hosting a series of educational concerts at the Pretoria Country Club: Up Close and Personal: The String Quartet as you have never experienced before! These concerts explored the development of the string quartet from Haydn to Debussy with brief discussions by Sue Cock.
