As part of the Johannesburg International Mozart Festival 2023 Richard Cock hosts and introduces a spectacular opera gala featuring leading international soprano Yael Levita and former South African baritone Colin Schachat, South African tenor Siyabonga Maqungo, home from Deutche Oper in Berlin, and upcoming young mezzo-soprano Bongiwe Nakani, recently returned from Vienna. Leading this stellar cast is award-winning conductor and composer David Sebba, who will be supported by the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra. The programme will include favourite arias and ensembles from the greatest operas by Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni and Mozart amongst others.

Odeion String Quartet Chamber Concert
The Odeion String Quartet present a programme of the String Quartet in E-flat Major, K428 by WA Mozart and Shostakovich’s String Quartet No.3 in F Major Op 73.

Piano Recital – Prof Albert Mamriev
Award-winning pianist Prof Albert Mamriev performs rarely heard Beethoven piano sonatas Op 109 & 110, and 4 Liszt transcriptions of excerpts from Wagner’s operas.

Vocal Masterclass Recital
A programme of opera arias and duets performed by students chosen to participate in the Vocal Masterclass running from 26 Jan – 4 Feb 2023. One lucky participant could be chosen for a year’s study abroad at the Hochschule in Lubeck, Germany.
