The Masterclass for young South African singers will run from 9 to 16 April 2022 at Northwards House, Johannesburg. One concert will be given as part of the Masterclasses.
Prospective candidates are asked to send the application form (download here) , a CV (please include a recent picture of yourself) and an audio recording (mp3 files) to: [email protected]
The recording must include the following repertoire:
- One work from the Baroque period
- One Classical aria
- One 19th-century/Romantic opera aria
- One Lied of your choice
At least one of the above pieces must be in German
The deadline for submission of these pieces to [email protected] is 26 January 2022.
Up to 6 candidates will be accepted to take part in the Masterclasses.
TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION
For the selected candidates, accommodation in Johannesburg and travel to and from Johannesburg will be provided, and there is no charge for the masterclass.
The JOHANNESBURG INTERNATIONAL MOZART FESTIVAL (JIMF) reinstates its annual vocal scholarship scheme: One student could be chosen for an academic year’s study in Germany at the Hochschule in Lubeck.
